Peter entered the world of professional entertainment in 1988 and worked under the stage name of Peter King. Over the years he was never afraid to try something new which kept him working on the cabaret circuit and on television for many years.
Starting out as a singer, he quickly developed into an all-round entertainer incorporating comedy into his act which enabled him to cast his net into the world of presenting, hosting live versions of BBC Shows such as Ready Steady Cook and The Antiques Road Show. Peter also remembers fondly the days when he regularly worked with celebrity chefs James Martin and Lesley Waters and valuation experts Hilary Kay, David Battie, Paul Atterbury and Lars Tharp. Peter had the opportunity to enter the corporate market and hosted a number of business motivational seminars in venues such as Earls Court and Olympia Exhibition Centres in West Kensington. Among the visiting speakers were intrepid explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes and football supremo Terry Venables. |
As a member of British Actor's Equity, Peter also made it to the TV screen (you can view the list of people he has worked with and programmes he has worked on here) and also regularly worked behind the scenes on Sir Bruce Forsyth's "Generation Game" and Noel Edmonds on both "House Party" and "Road Show" programmes. He even got involved with the Make Up Days organised by the BBC and, at one point, was having a makeover every week and looking absolutely FAB-U-LOUS!
During his career, Peter was thrilled to host many musical events featuring some of the people whose records he bought during the 60's and 70's and who were the idols of his youth. These included Brian Poole (formerly of The Tremeloes), Adam Faith, The Searchers, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Dreamers, P J Proby, John Walker (formerly of the Walker Brothers) and Dexy's Midnight Runners. Being an avid Shadows fan in his teens, Peter was delighted to be asked to perform with Jet Harris who was an original member of the group. Other highlights including hosting events which included musical stars from the 80's and 90's such as a very young Peter Andre, The Honeyz and pop boy band, Point Break.
Peter lives in North Essex with his wife Eve, a retired theatrical agent and now also a Public Speaker together with their also retired greyhound, Aiden.
